Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center employees have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.
This week I am feeling stuck. I see everyone around me improving, yet I feel as though I’m just coasting along in the middle. This run thing has me the most frustrated. Yes, I am able to run a few miles at a ten minute per mile pace, but can’t seem to get it any faster. I realize this is a huge improvement from last year, where I couldn’t run for a few minutes straight, but I am my worst critic. I like to set the standard pretty high for myself, and get frustrated when I don’t see improvement. I will not, however, give up….this is a challenge and a challenge I will conquer.
We went for a group bike ride Tuesday, and it was awesome to get outside and go for a nice ride with lots of company, even if it means more people saw me take my slow motion fall J We lost some of the group due to a flat, but honestly I didn’t know they were missing. Although the ride was ‘no drop’ when there are so many people, I just figured they were behind with the other trainer…..sorry guys!!! If it makes you feel better I guess “Man down” means go ahead and go.
Life outside of training brings another week of work and school. I’m looking forward to the end of semester break before starting up again in summer….my multi-tasking skills need a rest to regroup. I’m also looking forward to the Easter weekend, my quest to find Jello egg makers has left me empty handed, but we will make a bunny cake here….time for a new tradition.
