LiveFit Challenge Week 12: Kim’s Update

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center employees have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

I’m feeling a little in a slump, although I’m trying my best to keep up the enthusiasm. I’m not sure why, but I feel tired. I feel as though I’m struggling with my desire to workout and to eat right. This week I had to rearrange the workout schedule so that I could get all the pieces in since I rested on a day that was not supposed to be a rest day. It was the best thing I could have done however because by listening to my body, I felt a little rejuvenated after the day off. I felt like I stole that rest day, so I made sure that I adjusted the rest of the week to get in all of the workouts. I’m hoping that next week I will feel better, and I know that meeting with the tri group helps because I get inspired by the rest of the group. To hear others’ stories about their successes and struggles, to watch them get stronger or faster or skinnier makes me want to keep pressing.

I have noticed improvements still in myself, my heart is getting better conditioned, I feel stronger in the pool (although I still have TONS to learn), and I put on a shirt I have kept in the back of my closet for years because I liked it and didn’t lose hope of someday fitting back into it. At work, I put on a smaller scrub jacket just to see how it fit, and realized I’ve probably been cheating myself out of smaller size for some time. Three months ago, when I tried on this size, the sleeves were snug, the buttons didn’t button and the pockets seemed to be up around my neck. Now, I have room to move in it and it isn’t falling off like the previous one I was wearing. I like these changes, and I’m hoping this slump breaks soon….like during this upcoming week!!!!

  1. Michelle Colantuono says:

YOU CAN DO IT! We believe in you and we are all rooting for you. We are so proud of the commitment you have made and maintained. One day at a time, one step at a time, you will get there and feel wonderful after it is over. Although my hope is that you get addicted to health and that it is never truly over (that’s my hope for myself too). Sure – a little cake here and there is good stuff, but living long with those you love is soooo much better!
