LiveFit Challenge Week 12: Amy’s Update

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center employees have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

How do I feel this week? Like a drowned rat.  After swimming with the kids Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, then swimming laps Monday, and swimming in tri class Tuesday, I’m drowned.  I am, however, learning more and more about swimming every time we get into the pool in tri class.  I was able to get outside this past week to bike and run, but the ‘chilly’ Wisconsin spring has forced me to bike to nowheresville today….inside, at the gym, it’s disappointing after having the freedom to be outside.  As far as the biking goes, I have shaved another 2 minutes off my time in spin class.  Then there is the running…..grrrr the running.  I feel so stuck at my run pace; it seems I can’t get past it without feeling like the grim reaper is standing in the corner smiling at me.  I’m feeling the possibility of not being able to reach my goal time for miles per hour in the triathlon, and it’s disappointing.

I have found yet another set of workout buddies in the metropolis of Brillion, and enjoy running outside with them.  Different workout buddies bring on different conversations, different motivations, and different realizations.  In the past I would have never been able to run as long as I have, to just go ahead and run another mile because a ‘buddy’ joined in late.

I have also signed up for a duatholon, a 5k, and plan on signing up for the Cellcom 5K portion.  It is crazy how my view of hanging out with people has changed from going out to eat and whatever else the night may bring to recruiting people to do these sporting events for ‘fun.’  Is my aspect of ‘fun’ starting to change? Yikes….could be scary.
