Running analysis week…I thought this was going to be good, and was quietly hoping someone would tell me to give up on running, because let’s face it: I’m just not going to be America’s Next Top Runner. Turns out, the words I heard were, “You actually aren’t a bad runner. You have pretty good form and if you enjoyed running, you could be pretty good at it.” Too bad I don’t enjoy running. I’m not sure why I don’t, could be because it’s so mental and I would rather have a ball in my hands running to a basket, and not just running just to run.
Regardless, I’m in this thing. I’m going to learn to enjoy running…somehow. Typically, it’s the first half mile to mile that I hate…once I get past that, I feel like I could keep running without too much complaint. I just don’t enjoy it. I would rather be biking, or swimming. But I’m optimistic that at some point along this journey, the switch will flip and I won’t hate running as much! Maybe I’ll start to like it?!?
To fix this problem, I decided that I need to look into running challenges prior to the tri in June…so I signed up for the OshKosh half relay in April…motivation to keep me running! Speaking of running challenges, today we as a 6-Pack ran in the New Dublin Dash. We started together and we ended together! It was so much fun, everyone in green and looking a little foolish, running together and motivating each other. I think the event was challenging but our group worked together to get us all across the finish line! It was a taste of what the finish line is going to feel like…in a few more months!!!
