Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center employees have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.
So, this week the exercise seems to be taking more and more time, but it still works out somehow. There have been times I have had to break up the routine, say spin class in the morning, and then run after work. But it all has been getting done….so far anyway. Speaking of spin class, I had my best time this week on my spin bike, 15 miles in 37 minutes thanks to Ben…he has a pretty tough 0530 class on Tuesday mornings. However, Wednesday at 4:30pm forces the self esteem to be raised, along with the sweat levels. If only we could just stay on the stationary bikes, then we would be guaranteed no flat tires and I would be willing to bet no falls.
Doing the New Dublin Dash was also pretty cool, watching my fellow 6 packers finishing something they thought they couldn’t complete; then watching their self esteem shoot through the roof. I think these little races are kind of addicting, once you do one, you have to do another to beat out that time. If anyone is interested in a 5k on May 12th…give me a shout. Also thinking about doing the paper discovery duatholon on May 6th…any takers? If you would have told me a year ago I would be thinking like this, I would have told you your nuts in the head. It’s amazing what a little fitness, along with people holding you accountable can do.
Well, I’m looking forward to a night at Blue Harbor with the family, the kids always have a blast there, but don’t worry I’ll get the exercise in somewhere along the line, because I feel way better when it’s done and over with!!!
