LiveFit Challenge Week 10: Amy’s Update

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center employees have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

This week has been a busy one for me.  Stats tests and labs, cultural discussions and a paper, trying to figure out what is going on with my daughter and her schooling…the homework fighting continues, and how to get our youngest son to be evaluated, in the insurance network, for Autism.  As far as the home life goes, thank goodness my middle child LOVES doing his homework…and keeps us in check to make sure he gets it done…can anyone say future Doctor???? Someone has to care for us when we’re old.   Life certainly does not halt to the training schedule created for this sprint triathlon.

Then comes the training, the biking and jog/running are coming along, and I have again learned a ton Tuesday while swimming at the Y.  With the beautiful weather, I was able to get outside a few times this week to jog/run and bike.  Mother nature better not have any evil Junius-like surprises in store for us in May.  I only say the evil Junius-like surprises because she has some sort of ‘evil plot’ straight out of her mouth in store for us for the New Dublin Dash tomorrow.  She won’t spill the beans either, not telling us until we meet prior to race time.  I think Linda nailed it and she plans to hitch us together somehow for some team-building exercise. Oh well, in the words of Dr. Zahn…”When it involves Junius, it’s going to involve sweat.”  Our 6 pack is getting closer every time we meet.  Some of us were able to get together last Saturday for Lindsey’s Saturday morning workout at the Sports Med building.  Then 2 of us met on time Sunday….with someone trailing an hour behind….then she blamed the time change.  I was in a horrible mood Thursday before the triathlon class, but after talking with everyone during and after, I left in a much better mood, after lots of laughs.   That was just what I needed, especially since that social life I once had has pretty much vanished….but I’m have ummmm fun???? Training with the team, and have learned a ton, all well worth it.
