LiveFit Challenge Week 9: Linda’s Update

Linda Halla is a patient access representative at the Women's Center of Aurora BayCare Medical Center.

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center employees have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

During this journey it is amazing how many ups and downs there are. It seems like one day you are on top of the world training is going well and you are advancing in running. Then the next thing you know you talk to the trainer and find out you are way behind. In my way of looking at things is when this all started I had not run in over 30 years. I remember the first day I ran on the treadmill when this started I felt so elated. Now I have advanced to 16 minutes on 4.9 on the treadmill.  I am also just trying to get the hang of breathing during the front crawl for swimming. Another thing people take for granted from the time they were kids. But when you were never taught the breathing technique it kind of slows you down from the rest of the group. I have been feeling pretty good about spin class (cycling) & then Regan kicked that up a couple notches. She is really amazing in training people in her classes. My body has been very sore lately. One would think after training for 11 weeks your body would be somewhat adjusted to exercise. This Saturday we will be running in the Dublin run in New London it is a 2 mile run.  Will be very exciting to see how far we will be able to run before we have to walk.
