LiveFit Challenge Week 4: Amy’s Update

Amy Fischer is a registered nurse at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

So, this week has been a little tougher.   I wasn’t feeling so well Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.  The motivation to exercise had to be dug out from deep down within.  Mostly, I just ask myself, if I don’t do this, what am I going to do? Sit on the couch? Homework? Housework? Yuck!

When it comes down to it, I’d rather exercise then do homework or housework.  If I chose to sit on the couch, there is this constant nagging in the back of my mind to just get up and do the exercise.  It’s much easier to relax with that little voice hushed.    Looking back at when that little voice talked to me before, it would have been a lot easier on my conscious to just get up and exercise instead of beating myself up so much. Now, I sound a little nuts talking about the voices in my head!

Exercise this week has been going well.   Junius has been working on finding my long-lost core muscles, and I have learned a ton.  However, the homework gets complicated when I forget what exactly I was supposed to do, even when I wrote it down.   I suggested she make a video.

I went outside for a run this past weekend, and holy cow it’s way different running outside vs. running on a treadmill.  On the treadmill,  I was at a 5.5 for 20 minutes straight.  Outside,  I ran all but about a block of a 5k and it took 45 minutes.  Wow,  I could probably have walked that faster!  Tons of room for improvement there, but I’m sure with all this help, I’ll get there.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in the 6-pack again.  It’s been awhile.  I am sorry I won’t get to join in for the swimming portion of the workout, but my daughter is having a birthday party, so she wins. I can’t leave my poor husband alone with 10ish extra children for swimming, especially when the water is his nemesis.

I’m sure Junius will have me make up for it later!
