Live Fit Challenge Week 4: Kim’s Update

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

Kim Colantuono shares what she’s learned during week four of triathlon training:

“Another week down of tri-training, and another week down toward living a healthier life and enjoying a better me!

Although I’m not sure the scale has tipped that much, I definitely see a difference in the way I feel and in the way my clothes are fitting me.  That is surely some great motivation to keep me moving! With every day of working out, I feel my body adjusting to a new way of life,  one that I am enjoying more.

We work out with a trainer twice a week for one hour at a time, and  it is up to us to work out on our own on the other days of the week.  While I have struggled some days to find the motivation to move, I have been faithful to this training. Some days I only workout for a half hour on my own, but it’s better than the years I did nothing.  And what I have found is that on those shorter workouts (which are usually shortened because I don’t want to workout but then I guilt myself into it before I head to work), I push myself maybe more than I would have because I feel like I’m hurting myself even more since I am not working out a full hour.

And inevitably, I’m glad that I worked out!

My body is definitely still adjusting to this new lifestyle, but what I am surprised about most is that I am not craving as much junk food as I used to. In fact, the other night I ate a cupcake and after I finished it, not only was I disappointed in consuming those calories, my body also didn’t like the sugar I made it digest. I have found that I am getting fuller faster and my body craves healthier food. I never thought I’d crave fruit instead of ice cream, but I do! And I love it!!!

I am so happy that I have this opportunity and I am so excited to continue to see the changes!
