Live Fit Challenge Week 4: Dr. Utrie’s Update

Dr. John Utrie is a fellowship-trained urogynecologist and OB/GYN at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Six Aurora BayCare Medical Center have embarked on a wellness challenge that will change their lives forever! Over the next six months, these people will be coached, trained and transformed into triathlon-level athletes through the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Live Fit program.

Dr. John Utrie of Aurora BayCare shares his week 4 reflections in today’s blog:

“Another week in the books and a new set of aches and pains have come and gone!

Some viral illness let itself be known this week, but working out was still possible. I was really surprised how much being congested affected the workout. It became a struggle to do the simplest task my taskmaster asked. Working out is becoming a compulsion and missing a session leads to more guilt.

So, it’s best just to show up!

Decreasing calories has become a priority,  making every meal an critique of caloric pluses and minuses.  My car no longer reflexively steers towards exits with fast food drive-thrus.  Bananas and apples are the new candy bars and cookies. The belt cinching into holes never used it will be worth the effort of caloric quality and limits.

Next week,  its pool time and accelerated bike training. Can’t wait!”
