How are our LiveFit Challenge caregivers doing?  Here’s a Week 2 update from Lisa Lensmire!

Lisa Lensmire is a patient access representative at Aurora BayCare Medical Center Rehabilitation Services.

Feeling much better today.   The last couple days were tough.

It was great to get to meet the rest of my team on Saturday.  They all seem like great people!   The talks given to us by Dr. Scott Zahn,  Doug Koch and Jessica Jacobs were very inspiring. The workouts really kicked my butt.

I have to be honest. I left that day deflated in a sense.   I know that I am just starting,  but it is frustrating not being able to do the whole half-hour work out.   Junius explained it well to me:  my excitement is in my mind that maybe I should be able to do everything,  but my body is telling a whole different story.

This is hard:  the thought of not working out, even if it is just to take a walk,  is strong.  But Jessie is right,  I never regret working out after I have done it.

I am married with 3 children, 21, 20 and 17.  The kids have been very supportive, but my husband?  Not so much.  This makes it hard not to have a full support team, but my family and friends make up for it. I have my breakdowns,  but I know that everything is going to be worth it in the end.

Tonight,  I have my third personal training session. The aches, I am sure, will be there – but hopefully not for as long.

I had my personal training with Junius on Tuesday night.   I had time between getting done with work and my training,  so I went to one of the yoga classes.

Well, my body sure didn’t want to go to the places they wanted me to!  I felt really awkward doing the exercises and stretches, but I figure,  give me a couple more months and hopefully it will be a different story.

I jogged!!! Now not for very long, but in the training,  I was jogging.    That was a great feeling,  since I have not jogged in a very long time, if ever.

I had my second workout with Natasha on Thursday.  My body must be adjusting to all this workout stuff, because I’m definitely not as sore as I was after the first couple workouts.

Now don’t get me wrong – the workouts are tough and I am absolutely beat after – but my body is adjusting!

Lots of people have seen the wonderful pictures that were taken at our kick-off meeting. Words of encouragement are given as they stop at my desk.   A lot of them say that they give me credit for doing this,  and that they could never do it.    I just look at them and say “you know,  that is what I thought for many years, and look at me now.”

I told many of them to watch my blogs and that hopefully my thoughts and words will sound familiar and inspire others to make changes in their own  lifestyles.
