Could you go from “Couch to 5K” by Sept. 25?

It’s the end of summer and that can only mean 3 things: cooler weather, Packer games, and the 3rd annual Aurora BayCare 5k!

Have you been training? It’s not too late to get started — just join the “Couch to 5K team.”   We will help you get to the finish line with this gradual 10-week beginner walking and running program. The group is currently on week 7 and all ability levels are welcome. We meet at the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Center in the gym at 5:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays through September 21st.

So how does it work? Well, we warm up together for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then we split into two groups. The walkers are led by Lacey Bartz and she helps set a comfortable pace. I lead the runners and always jog in the back setting a slow maintainable pace. We all finish together with group stretching. Not only do participants learn how to train for a 5k, there is an information topic regarding training discussed each week.

Still not convinced? The entire program is FREE.

Get your running shoes and join me. I guarantee you will commit to LiveFit and have fun while doing it!

The 3rd Annual Aurora BayCare 5k is Sunday, September 25, 2011, at 8:00 am. This race is open to caregivers, family and friends. Join us for a morning of fun and fitness.  To sign up, download, print and return the attached registration form to Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Center today!
