Coaches are critical to achieving your fitness dreams

The Chicago Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon rocked!  I ran with my sister-in-law Elysia.  She had her first child 7 months ago and felt she needed a goal to help get back in shape.  Elysia contacted me asking if I thought she could complete a half marathon and (if so) if I could help her train.

I shared Scott Zahn’s story with her and reassured her she could do anything she put her mind to.  Preparation is key.  She rocked and rolled through her training and did an amazing completing the run.

Never question your ability!  If you have the drive and determination, you can do almost anything.  It is helpful to have a “coach,” someone who has been there, done that.  Working at the sports center with so many active people not only inspires you to work hard and try new things — but there is always someone willing to help with questions and concerns.  From triathletes, to marathoners and cross-country mountain bike racers, there is always someone here to help.

So what’s next?  R & R.  I plan to go camping/hiking at Wisconsin Dells this weekend.  I just had my stitches taken out and got the green light to swim, hike, run…….as long as I wear my hot pink splint!

Thanks to Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Sodhi, and Lacey M.S. OTR for all of your help with my wrist!
